How much does Webflow actually cost? And why you should buy at this price

Intro

If you want to publish a Webflow website with your own domain, you pay at least 150€ annually. “Phew quite a lot, isn't it? I can also get hosting from other providers for 50€/year.” It might look like this at first glance. But if you take a second look at Webflow, you quickly realize that you get a whole lot more for your money here than you first seem. Especially when you consider that other page builders such as Wix or Squarespace cost a comparable amount. That's why today we're clarifying the question of what Webflow actually costs and why the price is very fair!

Overview

Webflow offers various pricing packages. For standard websites, you can choose between 4 packages, depending on the technical requirements. If you want to develop an e-commerce shop with Webflow, there are 3 pricing options to choose from.

However, since I can't 100% recommend this to anyone at the moment (article on this topic will follow), today we will only look at the pricing model for standard websites.

But let's jump right into the various plans, called “Site Plans,” and clarify the question of which package costs how much and for which use case it is suitable.

Starter Plan (Free)

The Starter Plan is for anyone who simply wants to try out Webflow. In principle, it is entirely possible to develop a chic landing page with it and to use it under the webflow.io to publish. However, you cannot link your own domain and the website is marked with a “Made in Webflow” badge that cannot be hidden.

However, this plan is completely sufficient to get to know Webflow, as (almost) all features are accessible. Webflow only limits a few CMS and SEO functions, but these are no longer interesting for the start. In addition, in addition to the main page, you can only add another subpage and no custom code.

Basic Plan ($14/month)

If you need a simple website without dynamic content, it's best to use the Basic Plan. If you take out an annual subscription here, you only pay $14 per month - i.e. around €13 depending on the exchange rate. A monthly bill costs $18.

However, if you publish a blog with regular articles or plan a portfolio with several projects, for example, this plan is not the right choice because the CMS functionality is disabled here. The Basic Plan is therefore intended for websites whose content is not to be regularly expanded via a CMS (content management system).

The Basic Plan adds all features that are withheld from the Starter Plan. We can publish our website via our own domain and get full access to all SEO settings. You won't run out of sub-pages either, because we can add up to 100 of them. It is also possible to integrate your own custom code, provided that you come across the native Webflow options during development.

CMS Plan ($23/month)

As already mentioned, the basic plan deactivates the entire CMS functionality of Webflow. If you want to regularly update your website with new content, it's best to invest in an annual subscription to the Webflow CMS plan - and pay $23 a month (around 21.50€). If that's too cheap for you, you can simply book monthly and then pay $6 more.

As the name might suggest, with the CMS Plan, we get the comprehensive content management system from Webflow. In order not to have to burden the maintenance of the content on our CMS website on the shoulders of one person, we can invite up to 3 editors to join the project.

Otherwise, this package is only slightly different from the Basic Plan. I explain in detail how the Webflow CMS works and what crazy things you can do with it in detail in this video here.

Business Plan ($39/month)

Anyone who is really serious about the content on their website will sooner or later use the business plan. This is not technically different from the CMS plan, but it does involve more storage capacity. An annual subscription costs 39$ (approx. 36€) down to the month, a monthly bill 10$ more.

But I always recommend the CMS package first. Should you ever notice that you are reaching capacity limits either with the quantity or complexity of your content, you can upgrade to the business plan without effort.

Why Webflow isn't too expensive

When you switch to Webflow, you get a fantastic all-in-one solution. A brilliant page builder with (almost) endless design options. A scalable and powerful CMS. Outstanding performance on all devices. Secure and reliable hosting is also included. And no headaches.

Because a Webflow website is like a Rolex - looks good, is extremely high-quality and will still be running 10 years from now. Without you having to worry about anything. Because of the all-in-one approach, you only need external plugins in a few cases.

Should something break, use a backup that Webflow creates for you several times a day. Or you can contact competent support, who will get back to you within 24 hours and can then really help you.

In all of these aspects, I find Webflow's pricing policy very fair. My forecast is that Webflow could become a bit more expensive in the coming years, as the range of functions is also constantly being expanded.
